Last week I ended up in Arizona at the nursing homes I visited when I worked for my previous employer. I enjoyed seeing the people and places I hadn't visited for 3-4 years. I saw two of them that week and will visit the other two the first full week in January.
Turns out that the week I was in Arizona was most advantageous. Missouri had freezing temperatures and winds that were above the range that is usually experienced in Missouri. Phoenix set records for high temperatures. Sunday and Monday the temperatures were above 80's.
I tried hicking Squaw Peak which is just about one mile north of the Arizona Bilton Resort where we were staying. There is about a one mile trek to a summit which overlooks Phoenix. That sounded doable to me until I had made it about 1/4 of the way to the top and could look WAY WAYYYYYY up and see little figures continuing to traverse the switch backs and disappear around boulders. Then I looked down (see picture above) and decided it looked far enough away that I could take a picture and go back down to sanity.
